## How it works

Billed hours = the greater of the hours worked and your minimum hours. Crew hours = movers × billed hours, and the crew charge = crew hours × the rate per mover per hour. Travel = miles × the price per mile. Boxes = quantity × price each. The truck fee and the stairs or long-carry charge are flat. Total = crew + truck + travel + boxes + stairs.

## Worked example: a three-person crew, 5.5 hours, 20 boxes

1. Crew: 3 movers × 5.5 hours = 16.5 crew hours × $55 = $907.50.
2. Truck fee: $120.00.
3. Boxes: 20 × $3.50 = $70.00.
4. Invoice total: $1,097.50.
5. If the same crew worked only 2 hours and your minimum is 3, billed hours stay at 3: 9 crew hours.

## FAQ

### How do movers bill a local move?
Most local movers charge an hourly rate for the crew, often a rate for the team and truck together, plus a minimum number of hours. Extras such as stairs, packing and heavy items are added on top.

### What is a minimum hours charge?
A floor on the bill so a short job still covers the crew and the truck. If the move takes fewer hours than the minimum, the minimum is billed. This tool applies it automatically.

### Should travel time be on a moving invoice?
Some companies bill travel time or a fixed travel charge, others include it in the hourly rate. Whatever your quote says is what the invoice should say.

### How do I invoice packing materials separately?
Enter the number of boxes and the price per box. They show on their own line, and you can tick them taxable by setting a tax rate in the tax box below.

### What if the move ran longer than quoted?
Enter the real hours. Note on the invoice why it took longer, for example extra stairs or items not on the inventory, so the customer can see the reason.

### Can a customer pay a deposit before the move?
Yes. Pick Deposit invoice in the Type box for the booking deposit. On the final invoice, enter that deposit under Payments already received.
